Mee Raja Rules

Murni’s Mee Raja Special in Tom Yam Flavour. The name is derived from the Chinese ’emperor noodles’ used. If you patronise Murni’s at night, you probably have not seen this dish in all its glory. The roadside dining area can be really dark, especially when the street lights fail. This was photographed at night at Murni Discovery Aman Suria with Litepanels lights.

Beyond Veggie

Those Secret Recipe people harboured a secret. To open a chain of health food places that specialise in meatless menu. The Beyond Veggie restaurants are now up and running with several outlets in Klang Valley.

Photographed here is their Spaghetti Carbonara with shiitake (and other) mushrooms. The vegetarian noodles tasted like white Penang Hokkien Mee but is delicious. Most dishes are a bit pricey but portions are generous. I love this cafe at Oasis Square for the al fresco dining experience by the lovely fountain pool.

The Hainanese Chicken Chop

What I like about this unique Malaysian dish is that no two restaurants cook or serve it the same. Some come with mashed potato, some with chips and this one with wedges. Others may have fresh garden peas on it, while some use pulpy canned ones (which I like). The signature is in the gravy which should contain Worcestershire sauce but then again, it varies so considerably.

This version is from Auntie Kopitiam in tiny Kuala Selangor town. The eatery is halal and wi-fi enabled.
