Batu Dam is pretty like a painting, after rain. This idyllic and quiet spot is located off the old road to Ulu Yam. The OM-D’s kit lens is tack sharp so I used slight daubs of the watercolour painting filter on the hills and shore to soften it.

My Heart Sank
My heart sank again when I saw yet another wind-shredded Jalur Gemilang fluttering. Perhaps, in addition to promoting flying of the flag, we should also educate the public on the proper respect and dignity to be accorded our national flag. In this case, I think it was plain ignorance more than anything else.
The Dutch Angle (slanted horizon) in this picture is used to convey uneasiness, among other things. If you choose to use a Dutch Angle, try to make it fairly obvious. Too little slant and it may look like a framing or levelling error. At any rate, use it sparingly and only when you understand the emotional effect it conveys.
