I first saw a dragonfruit in a market in Vietnam many years ago. Didn’t realise then it is a fruit of a cactus plant. Also known as pitaya in other places, the red fruit is now cultivated on a large scale in the Sepang area.

As darkness sets in, strangling plants emerge from the fine white sand to surround an unsuspecting family. The secluded beach is known as Bagan Lalang or Weed’s Landing.
