Vista Of Malaysia

The Ramly burger stall is everywhere. Even high up where lightning frequently strike. See the dead tree?  🙂 Let’s celebrate today with the things we all love. Roadside hawker food and beautiful vistas.

A Mother’s Love

A young macaque is safe in the arms of his mother, for now. His future is bleak. As deforestation reduced their natural habitat, the monkeys moved closer to human settlements searching for food. It is wrong to blame and treat them as pests and intruders. We stole their homes and destroyed their natural food source.

They are killed through massive culling by shooting. Some of those caught are allegedly sold to restaurants and laboratories abroad. We need to embark or continue with some of the more humane methods such as relocation.

After all, they are very much like us. The mother hugs and cuddles her child when he’s sad. Happy Mother’s Day.

Afterglow

The warm and magical afterglow over Kuala Lumpur city after the sunset at 7:50 pm just now. In a long exposure, the camera sees what our eyes cannot. I didn’t even noticed the crescent moon when I was looking through the viewfinder.

Apart from composing and framing the shot, there are quite a number of things to worry about when doing a shot like this. It is always a race against time as the glow fades and hues change very fast.

A solid tripod is required. Set the ISO to the lowest value and turn off IS. Since I didn’t bring my remote release cable, I used the camera’s 2 sec timer to eliminate camera shake from the finger. I also kept the camera switched off until I am ready. This reduced potential noise from a heated-up sensor.
