Thaipusam 2013 – Part 6

It was a great sunny morning, blue skies and everything nice. The famous Olympus colours were already overflowing when out of nowhere came this pink man on hooks 🙂

This pic concludes my special 6-part coverage of this year’s Thaipusam Festival at Batu Caves. See also video of the chariot and kavadi bearers at my YouTube Channel: http://www.youtube.com/tvsmith

I like how the Tamil transgender (and cross-dressing) community take part in the celebrations without facing discrimination. We can all learn from this inclusive attitude.

This is a still frame capture from OM-D’s HD video footage. I’ll post a video of the festival after editing later. Update: The video is up.

Thaipusam 2013 – Part 4

As I tweeted earlier from the location, there were more camera bearers than kavadi bearers at Batu Caves this year. Throw a coconut and you will hit a shutterbug 🙂 Which is a good thing. It shows the healthy and growing interest in photography in this country.

The shirt of this lady shutterbug presented nice contrasting colours, so I worked her into the composition.

Olympus OM-D, ISO 200, f8, 1/160 sec.
