The much-anticipated ‘Magical Musicals’ premiered last Friday at Sunway Lagoon. Featuring some of Broadway and West End’s biggest hit songs, the show entertained and thrilled the capacity crowd non-stop. I spoke to director Chris Colby and choreographer David Kort after the gala opening and they too were pleasantly surprised by the response from our (normally subdued) audience.
In fact, towards the end of Stephen Weller’s stunning rendition of ‘Go The Distance’, the crowd broke into a (semi) standing ovation. Great singing, deft dancing and dazzling set design for ninety minutes! And I thought the ‘Grease’ segment alone was worth the price of admission. Hope these pictures I took during the premier whet your appetite…
Magical Musicals is being staged at The Amphitheatre @ Sunway Lagoon from 10th June to 14th July 2011. See my previous post of the preview for cast names. See Sunway Lagoon’s website for information on tickets.

Awesome! I been working with Chris & David since their first musical here in KL back in 2004. This really blew me away! Lovely pics TV Smith! Great meeting you too during the gala!
Thank you for the lovely write-up… and some fantastic photos too! I’m glad you enjoyed it. You were a great audience that night, which always makes it much easier- and much more fun!
