Thinking About Life

Did he fall off the back of a truck or was he just lying there thinking about life?

Captured with the OM-D’s kit lens in handy macro mode and swing-out LCD screen. The “Despicable Me 2” Minion figurine is about one-and-a-half inch tall. In this case, I used the len’s switchable close-up function more for its shallow depth-of-field effect.

Can’t miss the reminder when it is painted on the road. Jonker Walk is the tourist epicentre of Malacca, designated as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. This is a side road with food hawkers operating on weekend nights.

River Of Fire

Traffic flowed like molten lava spilling from a volcano in this long exposure of a busy city street. The rain last night and the resulting wet surfaces enhanced the liquid look.

I was at first tempted to use a Joby GorillaPod to clamp the camera onto the railing of the bridge where I stood. There was too much vibration so I opted for the Manfrotto 190CX carbon fibre tripod on the concrete floor. It is fairly stable given its small footprint and is light enough for gun and run-style shooting. Certain overhead pedestrian bridges are dark and known spots for mugging so is a good idea to stay agile.
