The Old Photo Shop

Found this pic I took in 2003 with my first digital compact camera; the 3.3 Mega Pixels Canon G1. It was a shop in Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur. The 30-minute photo finisher and Kodak. They are now both gone. The analog Photo Shop used to hand-colour black and white prints with brushes, swabs and the fingers. It was an art form.

Step Into Another Dimension

A group of cops cautiously explore the giant pixelated space they stumbled into. Is this a scene from a new science fiction movie based on Stargate and Tron? Or were the cops on a lighted disco dance floor of the 80s?

It is actually the concourse area of the new 1 Mont Kiara Mall this afternoon. I was looking at the simple but elegant chequered floor from above when the cops walked in on routine patrol. They added a nice dash of colours and deliberate overexposure yielded the fantasy look.

Incidentally, Olympus Malaysia’s HQ, showroom and well-equipped service centre is located on the office tower above.

Things To Do In Langkawi

What I do in Langkawi Island every time I am there. Have dinner at Rootian Restaurant in the middle of Kuah town. It is your typical five-foot way Chinese / Thai seafood restaurant. Food is excellent as always but no desserts or fruits available or served there after dinner. No problem. Just walk across the street to this one-stop supermarket. Buy duty-free Belgian Sea Shells Chocolates at RM 3.90 (about RM 14 in KL) 🙂
