Namaste’s Masala Thosai

Check out the Masala Thosai from Namaste in TTDI, the next time you are in the area. The crepe-like skin is made from a batter of rice and lentils and stuffed with spiced potatoes, fried onions and herbs. At Namaste, the delicious vegetarian meal is served with the best coconut chutney outside Kerala, India. Their tandoori chicken, garlic naan and mango lassi were excellent too.

Photographed on location with the Olympus OM-D, PanaLeica Summilux and Litepanels MicroPro. To bring out the subtle texture of the tosai (dosa), I sat the light on the table at a diagonal angle.

Namaste Indian Cusiine is at 4 Jalan Datuk Sulaiman, Taman Tun Dr Ismail, 60000 Kuala Lumpur. Incidentally, the humble Masala Thosai is listed as one of the world’s 50 most delicious foods by CNNGo.

Here’s another example of using an Olympus camera’s built-in Dramatic Tone Art Filter to do funky things. When you play back the image on a larger screen back home, you are bound to go Wow!

I originally framed this shot on the Olympus E-PL2 in a 16:9 widescreen format. Due to the tight composition, it is impossible to crop down to a square. Hence the letterbox.
