Yellow Horse Temple of Cape Coral

Exploring the meandering Tengi River on a sunny day, I discovered this off-the-beaten-track place. With a polariser, the deep blue sky and the striking colours of the riverside temple jumped out.

Like other places with a Chinese fishing community, temples dot the landscape of the coastal town of Tanjung Karang or Cape of the Corals. The seafarers pray to a patron deity for protection.

Thinking Out Of The Lantern

At the Dong Zen’s Lantern Festival, I set the camera to a slow shutter speed. I then zoom and rotate after clicking the shutter. All done handheld, for this random, abstract effect. Think out of the lantern.

The Magic Hour

The Magic Hour

Olympus OM-D, ISO 640, f3.5, 1/40 sec.

In cinematography, the ‘Magic Hour’ refers to the time when the the sky is glowing luminously just after sunset. It is less than 30 minutes, usually. The Dong Zen Temple in Jenjarom  is decked up with lanterns and glittering lights for its annual Lanterns & Floral Fest. The landmark is transformed into a magical wonderland for the Lunar New Year. Watch the video below. Happy Chinese Year New Year!
