You Never Know

Scallop Americana – Scallops and pasta sautéed with capsicums and black pepper to make a rather spicy dish. The Manhattan Fish Market restaurants have expanded its menu since I last dine in one. Somehow I missed the simpler and bigger servings from the early days. Everywhere, dory fish don’t taste like dory fish any more.

My OM-D EM-5 is being repaired. The LCD screen smashed and the mode dial faulty. The viewfinder rubber eye-cup needs replacement for the 4th time. So it goes in for a much needed service and firmware updates. You never know when you need a backup camera, all of a sudden. My trusty and tiny Panasonic LX-5 acted as stand-in here and it performed admirably well, as expected.

Cendol Drive-Thru

Move over, burger and coffee drive-through places! We now have a Cendol Drive-Thru complete with an attap-thatched roof. I like it that there is no intercom nor a 3-stop order process.  Just drive up to the makcik, place your order and pay when the sweet, icy dessert is handed over (see inset).

Cendol Bakar Drive-Thru is at Route 54, Kampung Assam Jawa, Ijok, Kuala Selangor.

10 Seconds, 1 Shot

While waiting at the lights earlier, I couldn’t resist rolling down the window for a quick shot of the Petronas Twin Towers. Although there was rain, there was still lingering blue at 7:41 pm.

The Panasonic Lumix LX-5 pocket cam is no slouch in low light, of course. It has a f2 lens and can start up to shoot almost immediately. To stabilise the camera, I nudged it against the upper window sill.
