The End Of The World As We Know It

So the world didn’t end today. At least, not yet. Still, it is a good time to reaffirm the maxim to live every day as if it is your last. Carpe Diem!

The End Of The World As We Know It

Alor

Smoky and noisy Jalan Alor is a popular ‘food street’ in Kuala Lumpur. Patronised by both locals and tourists, the stretch comes alive only after dark. For this special night-time P.O.V., I used the Panasonic Leica DG Summilux 25mm f/1.4 ASPH prime lens paired with the Olympus OM-D (EM-5).

White balance and exposure was left at Auto in P Mode while focus was pre-set manually. Audio via the on-board stereo microphones capturing ambience from both sides of the road. Rigging was handled with a Manfrotto 190 tripod with centre column mounted horizontally on the dashboard.

Resolution was set at 1920 x 1080 Full HD Fine. No colour corrections applied. Titles. trimming and WMV compression handled with Edius.

This video was made as a quick test of the OM-D’s 5-axis image stabilization and the camera’s auto reaction to changing and mixed lighting. Still image below is a screen capture from the edit timeline. Watch the video in Full HD if your hardware and network supports it.

Cendol Drive-Thru

Move over, burger and coffee drive-through places! We now have a Cendol Drive-Thru complete with an attap-thatched roof. I like it that there is no intercom nor a 3-stop order process.  Just drive up to the makcik, place your order and pay when the sweet, icy dessert is handed over (see inset).

Cendol Bakar Drive-Thru is at Route 54, Kampung Assam Jawa, Ijok, Kuala Selangor.

GPS Coordinates: N3 18.290 E101 17.990.
