Sun Surveyor

I have photographed Masjid Wilayah Persekutuan under different light since its opening in year 2000. Fascinated by the intricate architecture and how sunlight interacts with the interior arches and stairs, I always enjoy walking around the huge mosque to look at the shadow play.

It was only recently, that I was able to quickly calculate the exact position and declination of the sun with a mobile Android app from location. At one of my favourite angles, the app projected a perfect sweet spot but only in six month’s time. The sun’s relative angle in the sky changes over seasons.

I waited and that moment arrived two days ago. However, there remains one unpredictable variable; the weather. Resulting picture in the next post.

The Best Camera In The World

What is the best camera in the world? It is said that the best camera is the one that is always with you. For many, it is the humble phone camera in their pocket, ready to shoot whatever they fancy.

Saw this nice sunny sky and sign today. I had only the Samsung Galaxy S3 with me and it did its job very well. A 10,000 dollars bulky camera is practically worthless when you miss shots because you don’t want to carry it all the time. True?

Fusion Seafood Fusion Lighting

Fusion sea food fried rice from William’s Corner. The food is yummy but their greyish plastic table tops and fluorescent lighting aren’t exactly ideal for photography. So set your white balance to daylight or until the table turns a nice blue. I used the LED flash light from two Samsung Galaxy S3 phones to light this shot taken with the OM-D.
